Pearse J. Buchanan
Research scientist, CSIRO
Pearse Buchanan is a biogeochemical oceanographer and research scientist at CSIRO specialising in the development and application of ocean biogeochemical models. His work integrates physics, chemistry, and biology to investigate ocean elemental cycling and climate processes. He has extensive experience developing and running major global biogeochemical models, including WOMBAT, PISCES, and BEC, across leading HPC systems in Australia, the USA, and the UK.
Pearse holds a PhD in Quantitative Marine Science from the University of Tasmania on the importance of marine biological processes for carbon storage and biogeochemistry. He was awarded a Postgraduate Fulbright Scholar IMAS Best PhD thesis in 2018.
