Team Leader, Atmosphere Model Team

Dr. Heidi Nettelbeck

Heidi is the Leader of the ACCESS-NRI Atmosphere Model team, which is responsible for developing modelling infrastructure for the atmospheric component of ACCESS models used by the Australian climate and weather community. This infrastructure is guided by the needs of the Australian Atmosphere modelling research community through the Atmosphere Working Group, for which Heidi is the ACCESS-NRI liaison.

Heidi has a PhD (2009), specialising in Radiation Physics. Prior to joining ACCESS-NRI, Heidi spent 13 years as a Team Leader and Research Scientist in Computational Modelling of Ionising Radiation at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig, Germany. Heidi enjoys being innovative and bringing together people to work towards solving problems in science. The most satisfying aspect of her current work is knowing she is contributing to the development of ACCESS software for use by the Australian research community to facilitate better environmental decisions for our planet’s future.

Outside work, Heidi enjoys running, bushwalking, camping and pottering around in the garden.
