Dr. Joshua Torrance
Senior Research Software Engineer
Dr Joshua Torrance is a Senior Research Software Engineer in the Data Management Team, with experience across a range of scientific disciplines from experimental physics to meteorology. He has contributed to the creation, quality control and delivery of the Australian reanalysis, BARRA2.
Joshua received a PhD in Physics from the University of Melbourne in 2018, for his thesis titled Characterisation of a cold-atom electron source for ultrafast diffractive imaging.
At ACCESS-NRI, Joshua brings expertise in managing large volumes of data across the full data lifecycle, including acquisition, pre- and post-processing, quality control, and delivery. He also has experience with modern tools, with particular expertise in Python, and the automation and documentation of workflows.
When he isn’t working, Joshua enjoys socialising with friends, keeping fit, and playing computer games.
