The ACCESS-NRI is a new research infrastructure that models past and future climate, weather and Earth systems to support research and decision making in Australia.

The Australian Community Climate and Earth System Simulator (ACCESS) is the largest computer modelling system in the Southern Hemisphere. As a National Research Infrastructure, the ACCESS-NRI is set to transform and improve the research modelling capabilities available in weather, climate and Earth systems in Australia and facilitate collaboration across the Australian climate research community, as well as globally.

The ACCESS suite of models currently support research on international global climate reports, weather forecasting, seasonal prediction, climate projection and climate adaptation policy.

Hosted by ANU and enabled by the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), ACCESS-NRI is a partnership with the Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO and four Australian universities, including Monash University, University of Melbourne, University of Tasmania and University of New South Wales, as well as key collaborators like the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) and other national and international partners.
