Presentation types 

Keynote talks   

30 min plenary talk, including questions.

Talks (in plenary or parallel sessions)   

10-15 minutes including questions.To help maximise interaction during the session you are presenting in, we encourage you to consider limiting your talk to 10 minutes, leaving 5 minutes of time for questions and discussion to foster more interaction. Thanks for working with us to keep the sessions lively and engaging.

There is a prize for Best student presentation in this category.

Poster display  + 1 min lightning talk

These will include a 1 min lightning presentation during one of the parallel or plenary sessions. 

Lightning talk presentations will be 1 minute in length for a single presentation slide. The idea of the lightning talks is to introduce your poster in a 1 minute 1 slide presentation, to encourage longer discussions in front of your poster during the poster sessions.

Creativity is encouraged, and there will be prizes for:

  • Best poster overall
  • Most Creative Lightning Talk
  • Best student poster

The poster must not exceed the size of A0 (1189-841mm) and be brought along to the Workshop for display. Portrait format is preferred to landscape, as our poster boards are slightly smaller than A0 landscape. All posters will be displayed for the duration of the Workshop. Poster presenters are required to attend the poster sessions.  

Preparing your slides

  • Refer to the guidelines below, provided by the venue’s AV manager, when preparing your slides. This will help avoid technical problems on the day.

Guidelines – Preparing Slides for AV

  • Name your presentation slides file clearly, using the following naming convention: Your full name_Date_Session No_Start time   Example: JohnSmith_19Aug_Session5_1630 (this will help us a lot to organise the slides!). If your talk is a lightning talk /poster please add the number of your poster at the end: JohnSmith_19Aug_Session5_1630_Poster#

 

  • Upload your presentation directly to the Dropbox folder link sent to you through an email a week before the event by midnight Monday 17 August (AEST).
