Software Transformation team

About the team

In the Software Transformation team, we prepare the ACCESS models for the next generation of supercomputers, so we can run them faster and more efficiently. This is important for ACCESS users and collaborators, because it allows researchers to get more science done in less time.

Our team explores the use of new high-performing computing technologies and algorithms in climate science. We aim to bring the best software engineering practices to the ACCESS models, making them easier to maintain, to improve and to future-proof them against computer technology changes.

Our team works closely with scientific experts in the climate and weather community and across all the different technical expert areas at ACCESS-NRI and HPC facilities.

Engage with us

If you’re interested in learning more about our work or collaborating with us, we invite you to engage with our team, share your concerns or priorities regarding climate model software. We invite you to reach out or attend our Machine Learning for Climate and Weather Community Working Group meetings, which are open to anyone including early-career researchers and students. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to improve our systems and support the research community effectively.
