Anton Steketee

Anton is a Senior Research Software Engineer within the ocean and sea ice model development team, with a background in climate science and software testing.

His recent work has focused on analysis of sea-ice remote sensing records for climate studies and to support marine science. Anton is interested in sea-ice processes and their interactions with other aspects of the climate and ecosystems. He recently co-led development of nilas.org, a web-app to show historical sea ice and Southern Ocean climate variables.

Anton’s favourite aspect of his role is interacting with scientists across disciplines to facilitate the use and development of models for climate studies. He enjoys finding and understanding the links between different aspects of the environment.

Outside work, Anton has recently been trail running, but may well be found bushwalking, skiing, climbing, regaining or fixing bikes in his time off.
