Ute Roessner

As Academic Director, Research Initiatives and Infrastructure at the ANU, Ute represent the ANU on the ACCESS-NRI board. ACCESS-NRI sits within and reports directly into Ute’s portfolio. She enjoys supporting and enabling many researchers and research organisations across a wealth of disciplines. This means that she is also able to learn something new every day, which she thoroughly enjoy. Ute likes to walk the doggies around Mt Taylor National Park when she is not working.

Ute is currenty working on her own research program, her group is using metabolomics technologies to understand how beneficial soil microbes interact with plant roots to support plant growth and performance. They also collaborate with chemists to develop novel nitrogen fertiliser technologies to improve nitrogen use efficiency while reducing the nitrogen pollution impact of agricultural production systems.

2022 – Election to the Australian Academy of Science
2021 – Appointed as Member of the Order of Australia
2020 – Elected to the Victorian Honour Roll of Woman
2018 – Humboldt Foundation Research Award
2017 – Lifetime Honorary Fellow of the International Metabolomics Society
