NCRIS facilities celebrate National Science Week 2022

August 15, 2022

ACCESS-NRI, the Department of Education and other 26 NCRIS facilities are celebrating National Science Week through a series of 1-minute videos showcasing the diverse ways in which national research infrastructures enable exciting, multidisciplinary research in Australia.

National Science Week is a National celebration of science, engineering, mathematics, technology, and innovation. This year, National Science Week is Celebrating First Nations Sciences of the Land.

The #60sec4science Project was launched on Monday 15 August from the Department of Education’s Twitter account, followed by 27 projects showing how, using the resources provided by the NCRIS projects, researchers are working to understand asteroids, develop artificial intelligence, improve health or as in the case of ACCESS-NRI, simulate past and future climate and weather variability.

Australia’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) ensures that researchers have access to the facilities, equipment and resources they need to produce world-class research. These resources range from supercomputers and microscopes to datasets and software platforms.
