ACCESS Community Workshop 2024: Oral presentations and Poster Guidelines

Presenting at the workshop?

The Program Committee has put together a program that we hope will excite and engage all those attending the Workshop. It includes talks and posters that focus on scientific and technical areas related to ACCESS use, model development and model and data integration, spanning themes across the range of  research and modelling taking place in the community. These themes include (but are not limited to):

  • Model development and model evaluation for CMIP7
  • High resolution modelling
  • Paleoclimate and ice-sheet modelling

PRESENTATION TYPES

The program committee prioritised scientific or technical talks that would be of interest to the broader community. There is a restriction of one oral presentation per participant, but you can also

submit a poster in addition to an oral presentation.  Posters are automatically accepted.

Oral Presentations

If your abstract was selected for an oral presentation, please make sure you have registered for the Workshop, Remember that both lightning talks and poster presentations were offered as in person only option, so if you are now planning to attend online, please let us know ASAP.

IMPORTANT DATES

Sunday 1 September:

We ask all speakers to upload the presentations to the ShineDome Dropbox emailed to you on a PowerPoint format access.nri@anu.edu.au by midnight Sunday 1-Sep (AEST). This will allow the Shine Dome AV team Monday to upload all talks in advance of the workshop. If you can find the link to the Dropbox, please email us at access.nri@anu.edu.au and we will forward the link to you.

Please name your presentation slide CLEARLY following this format:

WorkshopDay_Session_PresentersSurnameName   Example: Day1_Session2_BatemanNatalia

On the day: Please meet Frank at the Shine Dome Library (2 floor) 10 minutes prior to the start of your session. This will be to quickly confirm your talk is in place and any other minor logistics before the session kicks off.

FULL ORAL

12 min (10 min + 2 min for questions): please check the Program for the time of your talk.

LIGHTNING TALKS

Lightning talk presentations will be 1 minute in length for a single presentation slide. The idea of the lightning talks is to introduce your poster in a 1 minute 1 slide presentation, to encourage longer discussions in front of your poster during the poster sessions. All Lightning talks should have a poster to refer to.

There are two 15 min lightning sessions in the Program . Please check it for specific details on the time of your talk.

Poster Display

The poster must not exceed the size of A0 (1189-841mm) and be brought along to the Workshop for display. Portrait format is preferred to landscape, as our poster boards are slightly smaller than A0 landscape. All posters will be displayed for the duration of the Workshop. Poster presenters are required to attend the poster sessions.

Please note: we cannot guarantee all submission preferences will be met. While we strive to fulfill as many preferences as possible, limited speaking opportunities are available. Some requests for talks may need to be allocated poster / lightning presentations. We thank you for your understanding.
